HSS Children’s Champion Award

Ali Truwit

Two-Time Paralympic Silver Medalist, Swimming,
Team USA - Paris 2024 Summer Paralympic Games

This year we are thrilled to present the HSS Children’s Champion Award to Ali Truwit. A lifelong athlete, Ali recently competed for Team USA in the Paris 2024 Summer Paralympic Games, where she won silver medals in the women’s 400-meter freestyle and 100-meter backstroke events, setting new American records in both races. Prior to the 2024 Summer Paralympic Games, Ali had three first place finishes and broke her own American record in the 100-meter backstroke at the U.S. Paralympic Team Trials in June 2024. She also won a gold medal in the U.S. Paralympics Swimming National Championships in December 2023. To have realized these successes less than a year after surviving a life-altering event make Ali a truly inspiring role model to children everywhere. Ali has become a champion for turning trauma into hope, and her extraordinary achievements and advocacy exemplify the power and importance of movement in pediatric musculoskeletal care, health, and wellbeing. Ali reminds our patients, and young people everywhere, that truly, anything is possible. We are honored to recognize her courage and determination. To learn more about Ali click here.

About the Pediatric Benefit

This year’s event will be a seated dinner with over 300 guests in attendance, including industry leaders in business, sports, entertainment, medicine, and philanthropy, grateful patient parents, and HSS leadership.

Since 2007, the Pediatric Benefit has raised over $15 million to support the Lerner Children’s Pavilion. Funds raised through the Pediatric Benefit make a profound impact in the following areas:

Research and Innovation Accelerator

We are conducting groundbreaking orthopedic research that is helping to make surgical techniques safer, more accurate, and less invasive for children
Access to Specialized Pediatric Orthopedic Care

We continue to provide care at the highest level to every child who needs our expertise regardless of financial circumstance.
Patient Experience

We strive to ensure that the physical environment meets the holistic needs of our patients. Our Child Life Program exemplifies this commitment, as we provide psychological and emotional support through a variety of programs and interactive activities.
Innovative Clinical Programs

We are expanding and advancing patient care in key areas including Pediatric Scoliosis & Spine Care, Sports Medicine, and Cerebral Palsy & Neuromuscular Conditions. Additional programs will further highlight the breadth of expertise offered at the Lerner Children's Pavilion.
