Hello and Happy September!
Just 3 more days!!!
On Saturday, morning (September 19) I will once again ride through Westchester County and Greenwich Connecticut for the annual HSS fundraiser. What a spectacular route!
Why do I do this?
Quite honestly, HSS is an exemplar. I am beyond inspired by the spirit of the MD’s Nurses, PA’s and researchers who work tirelessly, passionately, and unceasingly to raise the bar for the treatment of musculoskeletal issues and standard of care. Amazing!
When I was a young nurse (yes, way back when!) caring for post hip replacement patients—it was a two week in-hospital ordeal with months of rehab.
Fast forward, to 2022, thanks to the skillful, artful Dr. Alexander McLawhorn, my hip replacement had me in and out of the “OR” in about 70 minutes, walking a quarter mile a day, the next day. I've been training all year and as my body allows I'll do this ride year after year. (This is my 3rd HSS ride.)
The state of health I have been able to create and sustain is a dream come true!
A leading cause of disability, musculoskeletal disorders affect more than one in every two adults in the US. (This means half of the people we know and love.)
Funds raised through BIKE HSS will accelerate Hospital for Special Surgery's efforts to:
- Advance groundbreaking research into new treatments. (My hip replacement was faster than my root canal!! Not exaggerating:-))
- Provide patients with life-changing care, from diagnosis to recovery.
- Share expertise globally and educate the next generation of leaders in the field. (So, soooo necessary!)
Health, wellness and movement are more important than ever!
Please consider a donation to my page. Together, we can help restore mobility and hope for countless patients around the world who rely on HSS.
As the HSS team says, "How you MOVE is why we ride." Movement is life!
Thank you for visiting my page, for your good wishes and for your consideration.
Warmest regards to you!
Bernadette
