I’m thrilled to share that on Saturday, September 13, I’ll be running the 5K for MOVEment to support a cause that’s incredibly meaningful to me: the HSS Wellness Center, which provides vital wellness resources for the people who work at Hospital for Special Surgery.
Before I joined HSS as a staff member, I was a patient here—struggling with chronic back pain that made everyday life feel impossible. Through expert surgical care and unwavering support, I regained my ability to move, heal, and truly live again. That journey inspired me to become part of the HSS team.
Now that I work here, I’ve come to understand just how important it is to care not only for patients—but also for the staff who care for them. The HSS Wellness Center plays a critical role in supporting our employees’ mental, physical, and emotional health. From movement classes to stress reduction and community-building, the Center is a lifeline for so many of us who give our all every day.
Running this 5K is my way of giving back—to the Wellness Center, to my colleagues, and to the institution that helped me stand on my own two feet again.
If you’re able, please consider donating to support this effort. Your gift will go directly toward wellness programs that uplift and sustain the incredible people who make HSS what it is.
How you MOVE is why I run.
With deep gratitude,
Serena
