Since its inception, the Autumn Benefit has raised over $16M, strengthening the key pillars of excellence— training, research, education, and academic programming at HSS—for the ultimate benefit of patients worldwide.

ABOUT THE AWARDS

HSS Impact Award

Presented to Michael L. Parks, MD, FAAOS, in recognition of his exemplary commitment to the HSS mission and leadership as an ambassador, advancing both the organization and the field. An orthopedic surgeon specializing in minimally invasive hip and knee replacement, he has achieved exceptional patient outcomes and advanced research in perioperative care and access, addressing disparities in underserved communities. In 2027, he will become President of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, reflecting his leadership in advancing standards of care.

HSS Research Excellence Award

Presented to Robert F. Spiera, MD, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the treatment and study of complex rheumatic diseases. As Director of the Scleroderma, Vasculitis, and Myositis Center at HSS, he has significantly expanded patient access to emerging therapies. Through his research leadership, he has advanced the development of targeted therapies that are transforming patient care and improving outcomes while reducing dependence on traditional steroid treatments.
