Dear Friends,
The best part of my job as an HSS physician is helping my patients get back to doing what they need and love to do. This is why I’ll be joining my colleagues and patients at BIKE HSS on September 14th.
Each year, this special day brings together everyone who makes HSS the leading academic medical center for orthopedics and rheumatology. As I have for the past three years, I’ll be riding 25 miles with Team HSS Hand and Upper Extremity. We're raising money to directly support the research mission of the Hand and Upper Extremity Division. Our research drives clinical advances in upper extremity musculoskeletal care that I know are especially important to you.
How your arm MOVES is why we ride!
Since its inception in 2019, BIKE HSS has raised nearly $7M, with $2.5 million raised in 2023 alone. These funds have enabled HSS hand and upper extremity clinician scientists to lead groundbreaking research and innovate the delivery of patient care. Among our research breakthroughs include:
- In April we implanted our 100th KinematX™ total wrist replacement.
- We pioneered a technique to heal scaphoid nonunions with 100% success.
- We use microsurgical techniques to transplant and replace diseased cartilage in the wrist.
- We discovered the first successful surgical technique for Parsonage-Turner syndrome, a paralyzing disease that afflicts muscles in the arm and forearm.
- We launched a successful technique to repair the most difficult wrist ligament injury in athletes and weekend warriors alike.

Thank you for your support!
