PARTICIPATION

Who can participate and how old do you have to be?

BIKE HSS is a ride, not a race!  We welcome all participants, from all places, with all levels of cycling ability.

  • 10 Mile Option, 25 Mile Option, and 62 Mile Option:  Participants must be 16+ on or before Saturday, September 14, 2024.  All minors under 18 must ride with a registered adult care giver or parent.

Please Note: Under no exception can infants or children ride on a bike with their registered parent/guardian/caregiver/participant.

What is the Registration Fee and what does it include?

Registration for both mileage options is $95, and includes the following:

  • 10, 25, and 62 Mile route options complete with scenic and beautiful fall routes
  • Participant T-Shirt
  • Fully supported course
    • Rest Stops every 12-15 miles along the route
    • On Course Medical
    • SAG and Mechanical Support
  • Start/Finish Venue Amenities
    • Medical, Bike Mechanics, Bike Parking, Recovery Zone, Entertainment, and more
    • Pre-ride lite breakfast and post-ride lunch
  • Ability to earn the annual BIKE HSS Jersey, should you raise $1,000. To receive the jersey prior to September 14, funds must be raised by July 29th.
  • Ability to earn other BIKE HSS fundraising incentives

Do I need to raise money?

Due to our mission in providing critical musculoskeletal care, we highly encourage it.  We set your fundraising goal to what is easily attainable ($500 for 10 Mile, 25 Mile, AND 62 Mile Riders), and there are amazing incentive prizes for meeting those goals.  We’re here to help you every step of the way and provide you with great resources and tools to surpass your goals with ease.

Does my Registration Fee go toward my Fundraising Goal?

No, your non-refundable registration fee is not a tax-deductible donation, and therefore can’t apply toward your fundraising goal.  These registration fees help offset the costs of producing the Ride and all of the great services we provide to you.

Are donations to BIKE HSS Tax Deductible?

Yes, all donations are tax deductible. The official 501(c)3 organizational name is: The Hospital for Special Surgery.  Our federal employer identification number (EIN) # is 13-6714749.

If I have to withdraw from the event due to a conflict, can I have a refund or transfer to another participant?

All registration fees and donations are non-refundable and non-transferable.  We aim to work with participants on a case by case basis to transfer their registration fees to future events.

What do I do if someone hands me a check?

Please fill out an offline donation form to include with check donations, and send both to:

ROUTE

What are the actual 10 Mile, 25 Mile, and 62 Mile Routes?

For your safety, we do not announce specific route details until event week. Overview maps of the routes will be shared in the coming months. Keep in mind, extensive safety measures, such as traffic control devices and law enforcement officers, are in place on event day that are not in place on any given day. While we will provide GPS routes for riders to load into their bike computers should they choose, all routes will be marked with both signage and Route Arrows to allow all riders to navigate the course easily.

Are there Stops along the Route?

Yes!  There are Rest Stops complete with Food, Water, Electrolyte beverages, Bathrooms and Medical every 12-15 miles along both routes.

What if I get tired and can’t complete the mileage?

Have no fear!  SAG vans are here!  We have vehicles patrolling the route to pick up participants (and their bikes) when in need.  You’re also equipped with a wristband with an 800 number that can dispatch a van to your location.
